The Business Analyst (12-month contract) will be responsible for managing the timely and accurate close of month end, responsible for the administration, coordination, and maintenance of internal pricing records in SAP, responsible for the integrity of SAP A&P budgets, forecasting, reporting and actively participating in the annual plan and latest estimate processes through providing analysis, guidance, and support.
Role Responsibilities
Management of Month End Close
- Oversee the month end management reporting process, including: the communication of required deliverables and timelines to the Canadian business; providing guidance on the Purchase Order process, and managing the Brand Investment process to ensure the accurate reporting of A&P expenses
- Prepare and upload required journal entries to accurately report monthly Brand Investment spending, adhering to internal control requirements
- Maintain and manage the monthly reconciliation of applicable GL accounts
- Accurate monthly forecasting of trade spends and brand investment for pre-close deliverables; investigate material variances between the P&L and the original forecasts.
- Troubleshoot material discrepancies in different SAP accounting systems, namely CRM vs EDW and identify & implement necessary corrections in a timely manner.
- Ensure a timely and clear communication flow to Finance Director and Business Planning & Analysis Manager of risks and opportunities on our P&L.
- Provide financial and business education, training, tools, and templates to the Sales teams with the goal of improving the teams’ overall business and financial acumen.
- Assist Sales and Marketing in managing their trade spend and brand investment accrual journal entries.
- Lead monthly trade spend and brand investment reviews with Sales and Marketing and to align on preliminary forecast and increase stakeholder confidence in financial reporting.
- Action additional Finance related ad hoc requests as and when necessary.
- Partner with the Finance team to ensure accurate pricing conditions in SAP and correct pricing discrepancies between liquor board customers’ purchase orders and sales orders in SAP.
- Maintain accurate mapping tables of liquor board customer numbers and SAP material numbers.
- Ensure timely uploads to SAP of major price changes.
- Execute weekly pricing uploads to SAP of new listings.
- University degree with a focus in Business or Finance.
- SAP systems experience is an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of PowerBI or willingness to self-learn is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of financial analysis or related experience with a particular focus on financial accounting and reporting is preferred.
