Metallurgical Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Metallurgical Engineer’s duties & responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee the preparation of engineering technical reports or other documents
  • Prepare engineering technical reports or other documents
  • Conduct studies on the properties of materials and characteristics of materials
  • Design, develop, and specify processes for molding, forming, and thermal treatment of metals, alloys, ceramics, and other materials
  • Coordinate production testing and control of metal refining, smelting, or foundry operations
  • Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal, and other materials
  • Supervise material handlers and helpers
  • Supervise operation of mechanical equipment and machinery
  • Maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products to prevent shortages

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering
  • Three years to less than five years of maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Strong organizational and detailed-oriented skillset
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound decisions, manage time effectively, and take initiative
  • Exhibits efficient interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication
  • Proven ability to analyze problems, work under pressure and collaborate within a team environment

The successful candidate will demonstrate proven work experience and specialization in the following areas:

  • Types of Materials
    • Nickle alloys
    • Titanium and special alloys
    • Stainless steel
  • Analytics Techniques
    • Thermal Analysis

  • Proven work experience in the following areas:
    • Installation, maintenance, and inspection of related equipment or facilities
    • Operations or production
    • Quality assurance or control
    • Research and development
    • Specification or technical writing

  • Area of Specialization
    • Physical metallurgy
    • Materials
    • Pyrometallurgy
    • Ferrous metals
    • Process improvements

  • Valbruna ASW Inc. offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package:
    • Salary: $105,000 – $125,000 annually (to be negotiated) / 40 hours per week

  • Working Conditions:
    • Permanent, full-time employment
    • Work must be completed on-site at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely
    • Responsible for own transportation to and from site
    • Working conditions will include a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
    • A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else
    • Must be flexible and reliable with the work schedule
    • Supervision of 3-4 people
