THE ROLE
ETRO Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Interiors Estimator to join our team. This role is key to ensuring accurate cost estimates, competitive bids, and strong collaboration with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll get up to as the Construction Estimator, Interiors
Cost Estimation and Bid Preparation
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Solicit and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Organize and present estimate data in clear, concise bid proposals.
- Lead multiple hard bid proposals at a time.
- Update and maintain unit price libraries and historical cost databases.
Project Scope Clarification
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and consultants for design and scope clarifications.
- Evaluate design documents and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Address inquiries from subcontractors and suppliers regarding project scope and requirements.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, vendor communications, and bid details.
- Provide regular updates to the Operations and Construction Manager on bid progress and key challenges.
- Assist in preparing tender analysis reports and comparisons.
Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure clarity on pricing and specifications.
- Support the project team with cost data during tender reviews and pre-construction meetings.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to align estimating goals with overall project strategies.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in estimating processes and workflows.
- Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and industry best practices.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to analyze strengths and areas for improvement in estimating practices.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

- Education: Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in construction estimating or related roles.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in estimating software tools and advanced MS Excel capabilities.
- Core Skills: Quantity take-offs, bid preparation, cost analysis, and scope management.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication for subcontractor and internal team collaboration.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for accurate cost assessment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Effective organizational skills for managing bid documents and deadlines.
