What You’ll Like About This Job

FortisBC is hiring Equipment Operators in Burnaby, BC to assist with gas distribution construction and maintenance activities. This unionized, full-time position includes operation of heavy equipment like backhoes and trenchers, alongside training in welding, pipefitting, and emergency response. The role offers hands-on development and long-term growth in BC’s energy sector.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or GED
• Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
• Experience operating rubber tire backhoe and other excavating machinery
• Safe driving and work habits
• Ability to lift, bend, and work in all weather conditions
• Willingness to travel and meet residency requirements
  
  

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Current Gasfitter (B ticket or higher)
• Welding experience or certifications
• Strong teamwork and public interaction skills
• Experience in shallow construction and gas utility work
