Bevo Farms Ltd is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America, providing greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest-and-disease-free plants. Bevo operates four facilities in the lower mainland of British Columbia and two facilities in the province of Alberta.


Position Overview

The Vice President of Operations (VP Operations) is a key executive leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across all company locations. Reporting to the CEO, the VP Operations will oversee growing operations, facility management, production, maintenance, labour planning, and shipping. This role requires a strategic leader with strong business acumen, process improvement expertise, and a deep understanding of large-scale agricultural operations.

The VP Operations will lead a team of senior managers and directors across multiple greenhouse sites, ensuring alignment with company strategic goals while fostering a culture of responsibility, initiative, and excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the company’s operational strategy in alignment with company business objectives.
  • Oversee all greenhouse operations, including growing, production, labour, shipping, and maintenance.
  • Lead a multi-site team, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence across all locations.
  • Optimize workflows, production efficiency, and resource allocation to improve profitability and output.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all sites.
  • Identify and implement industry best practices and new technologies to improve operational efficiency.


People & Team Leadership

  • Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring and developing the leadership team across sites.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between growing, labour management, shipping, maintenance, and administrative teams.
  • Promote a proactive approach to workforce planning, ensuring optimal staffing levels and efficient labour utilization.


Greenhouse & Production Oversight

  • Oversee the implementation of growing strategies across all sites to ensure high-quality plant production.
  • Ensure all growing teams adhere to best practices for irrigation, climate control, pest management, and plant nutrition.
  • Monitor and drive performance metrics such as plant quality, germination success rates, and yield efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the sales and planning teams to ensure production aligns with customer demand.


Maintenance & Facilities Management

  • Ensure the Maintenance Managers and teams are implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee capital projects and facility upgrades to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to prioritize infrastructure investments and technology adoption.


Labour & Workforce Management

  • Oversee the Director of Operations and Operations Managers to optimize labour planning, training, and workforce motivation.
  • Ensure compliance with workforce regulations, including temporary foreign worker programs and contractor management.
  • Improve efficiency in labour allocation to align with production and shipping demands.


Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Set and track KPIs, providing regular performance reports to the executive team and
  • Board of Directors.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall performance.


Qualifications & Experience

·       20 years’ experience in greenhouse/agricultural operations, preferably in a senior role as a Head Grower, Director of Cultivation, Vice President (VP) Operations, or Chief Operating Officer (COO). 

·       Strong business acumen

·       Proven ability to lead multi-site operations and large teams.

·       Experience in process optimization, labour management, and supply chain coordination.

·       Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive and hands-on leadership approach.

·       Excellent communication and team-building skills to foster cross-functional collaboration.

·       Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement in agricultural production.
