The Waste Services Branch is looking for Long Haul Wash Bay Attendant/Truck Driver IV to safely provide wash bay support to the operational team by detailing equipment. When not detailing equipment other responsibilities will be shunting trailers around site and to safely operate a tractor-trailer unit all seasons of the year, on the pavement and in muddy conditions at the landfill and other disposal locations. You will transport different waste and recyclable materials from the Edmonton Waste Management Centre to various landfills and recycling facilities inside and outside the City limits.

What will you do?
- Wash and detail tractor-trailer units and/or other on-site equipment including exterior, interior, and potentially engine components
- Operate and maintain wash bay equipment, such as pressure washers and steam cleaners
- Keep the wash bay clean, organized, and free of debris, ensuring all equipment is stored properly
- Drive vehicles through heavy City traffic and unload the trailer in uneven and muddy conditions
- Drive tractor-trailer units to and from regional landfill sites throughout Alberta
- Pick up and deliver tractor-trailer units from various locations
- Perform light maintenance inspections on trucks (checking oil, tires, air brakes) and complete electronic pre-trip inspection forms
- Follow policies and procedures of any facilities that material is delivered to
- Ensure all aspects of the daily operations on/off-site are carried out in an environmentally safe manner
- Clean and sweep truck tunnels and unit parking stalls, complete electronic daily timesheets and operate two-way radios and cell phones
- Provide support for the reporting, verifying and documenting of any environmental incidents
- You may be required to deal with the public
- Completion of Grade eight (8) supplemented by experience in the operation of tractor-trailer vehicles where the Gross Vehicle Weight exceeds 13,600 kg
- Experience washing equipment in a fleet environment including operating high-pressure washers and other related equipment
- Following all Federal and Provincial regulations, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Driving for the city - Drivers manual, and Operation areas standard operating procedures
- Compliance with all policies when working within other company facilities
- Ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure and respond to stressful situations in a positive, calm and professional manner
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and ability to plan work in regards to safe work practices
- High levels of attention to details and problem-solving in dealing with unique cleaning requirements
- High awareness of potential hazards and precise manoeuvring
- Ability to use electronic devices (Ipad/ desktop computer)
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete tasks

- Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver’s License with Airbrake (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Applicants may be tested
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform considerable physical efforts which includes handling the high-pressure washers, scrubbing, and navigating tight spaces for extended periods of time in a wet and humid environment
- 80 hours bi-weekly, various shifts, Monday - Sunday
