The Chinook School Division requires a full time (1.0 FTE) continuing Career Education Counsellor beginning August 26, 2025.

Responsibilities

The Career Education Counselor should be an experienced and dynamic professional interested in program development and student services. The successful applicant would have responsibilities for the following:

  • Counseling services for students that relates specifically to their course options, program adaptations, graduation or credit requirements, scholarship/bursary applications, post-secondary applications;
  • Career guidance services for students and parents;
  • Leading and participating in the development and delivery of school Career Counseling to students in Grades 10-12;

Duties

  • Developing and administering interest and ability inventories through myBlueprint and other platforms;
  • Developing/supporting career and work explorations, potential credits and coursework selection including special credit support;
  • Travel to various schools across the division;
  • Communicating information and options for bursaries, transitions to post-secondary and career options;
  • Advocating for student success in learning and transition;
  • Consulting in student learning plans in conjunction with the instructional team members working to ensure student success;
  • Work with all staff in creating equitable learning opportunities for all students; and
  • The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a teacher;
  • Experience as an educational leader;
  • Familiarity with Career Development Planning and Initiatives inclusive of Saskatchewan Curriculum;
  • Familiar with and experience in counseling and related models;
  • Ability to build skills in staff, students and family members;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to truth and reconciliation;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion;
  • Certified as a Teacher in good standing in Saskatchewan or the ability to be certified;
  • Valid driver's license
