POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) Technician (Electromechanical Technician)

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

POSITION REPORTING TO: Engineering Manager

POSITION TYPE: Contract, Full Time (1 Year)

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, rotating shifts (two weeks of morning and evening shifts, followed by one week of night shifts). Weekend availability may be required.


Job summary:

Accountable for operating and maintaining the entire automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) on site to ensure all the business units are supported. These movements are to occur in a safe and timely manner while meeting all our customer’s requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) on a rotating 3 shift basis to support all business units.
  • Support the 24hr day to day operations of the building 5 and 9 Cranes and conveyor equipment, RFID Scanner System, including network components, Automated Door operation, WCS (Warehouse Crane Operation System)
  • Perform as part of the ASRS team the maintenance schedule- flexible hours/ some weekend days are required
  • Manage small scale, improvement driven projects
  • Perform all job functions safely; maintain a clean, compliant, and orderly work area
  • Participate actively in ASRS safety inspections
  • Support and execute ASRS systems qualification/commissioning documentation
  • Observe and adhere to the Company values and policies. Review and update SOP’s, drawings and systems documentation as required
  • Participate and support the sites performance improvement program (GPS)
  • Participate in the site improvement initiatives: safety, quality and zero waste related.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors while performing work on-site.
  • Maintain the maintenance records for equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge
  • Shares best practices with other team members
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well- organized and can prioritize tasks


Basic Qualifications:

  • Have an outstanding customer service attitude and a continuous improvement mind set.
  • Excellent Team player attitude
  • Demonstrated experience with material handling equipment from mechanical point view: conveyors, lifting equipment, electric motors, gear boxes, chains-sprockets mechanism, pneumatics.
  • Computer skills MS Office: Excel – SAP knowledge, an asset
  • Electro-mechanical trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Applicant must have the physical ability to work at heights
  • Trade Certifications/License (millwright/instrumentation/electrical)
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical/food environment would be an asset


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous maintenance and/or operation experience in a fast pace industrial environment.
