We’re looking for a passionate and experienced General Manager to lead our dual-concept location on Commercial Drive — home to La Tana and Pepino’s Spaghetti House — and to be part of the larger Banda Volpi famiglia.
Banda Volpi — the acclaimed restaurant group behind Savio Volpe, La Tana, Pepino’s, and Elio Volpe — is recognized for creating some of Canada’s most well-regarded dining experiences. With a name that means “gang of foxes,” Banda Volpi has earned a national reputation for thoughtful cuisine, warm hospitality, and exceptional service. The group has received numerous accolades including Michelin recommendations, Vancouver Magazine awards, Gold at the Vancouver International Wine Festival, “Two Forks” by Gambero Rosso and spots on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants.
Though distinct in concept, Pepino’s and La Tana operate as one connected space, sharing a kitchen, a team, and a spirit. Pepino’s is a lively, old-school Italian-American spot serving red-sauce classics, thick-crust pies, and legendary tiramisu. Next door, La Tana is an Italian alimentari and wine bar designed with nostalgia for the traditional Italian neighborhood markets, offering a vibrant space for enjoying handmade fresh pasta, delicious seasonal small plates, and a carefully curated list of Italian wines, vermouth, and grappa.
We’re looking for a hospitality leader who thrives in a dynamic environment — someone who can move seamlessly between the fast-paced energy of Pepino’s and La Tana; from new to old world Italian. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of operations, guest experience, service leadership, and team development across both restaurants.
A strong foundation in Italian wine is essential; WSET Level 2 is strongly preferred. You’ll be a key leader in driving wine culture and excellence in service.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead Pepino’s and La Tana as a cohesive operation. You will act as both a strategic operator and a hands-on floor leader — driving service, developing staff, managing performance, and delivering memorable guest experiences in both venues.
You’ll be supported by a seasoned leadership team (Chef, Sous, and Service Managers), and will work closely with the Banda Volpi executive team on culture, financials, programming, and long-term growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Daily Operations Across Two Concepts: Oversee and ensure smooth service and operational excellence across both Pepino’s Spaghetti House and La Tana, maintaining high standards in food, beverage, and guest experience.
- Manage and Develop the FOH Team: Inspire, coach, and grow a high-performing front-of-house team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and hospitality excellence.
- Deliver Exceptional Guest Experiences: Champion a guest obsessed culture, act as senior floor presence during peak hours, and ensure all service meets or exceeds expectations for warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Uphold Beverage and Wine Leadership: Oversee the beverage program in collaboration with the Beverage and Wine Directors, leveraging your wine knowledge to educate staff and elevate guest offerings.
- Drive Performance and Operational Success: Monitor financial performance, labor efficiency, guest satisfaction, and staff development; collaborate with the Director team to align operations with strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5+ years management experience in high-volume, full-service restaurants
- Proven success leading dynamic, multi-concept or multi-service teams
- WSET Level 2 certification – deep working knowledge of Italian wines and beverage service
- A leadership style that is people-focused, composed, and culture-driven
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including scheduling and cost control
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams with clarity and care

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience + gratuities

AVAILABILITY
Full-time availability, including weekends and evenings, is required. This is a hands-on role that requires a visible presence in both dining rooms during peak hours.
