Summary Of Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Director, the incumbent will act as the Engineering Manager and play a central role in managing, coordinating and supporting the engineering phase of major mining projects. Responsible for the technical integration and oversight of multi-disciplinary teams, he/she will ensure that solutions meet scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives. Specifically, the incumbent will be called upon to:
- Actively participate in the strategic planning of mining projects (ARP, FSP, DE).
- Coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction, mining and environmental disciplines.
- Work with sourcing teams for heavy equipment, conveyor systems, crushers, etc.
- Incorporate mining production requirements into facility design (capacity, energy efficiency, automation).
- Lead all engineering disciplines related to a major mining project such as ore processing processes, tailings management, ancillary services facilities, etc.
- Ensure that technical solutions are within the scope, budget, schedule and geotechnical and environmental constraints specific to the mining context.
- Review and validate engineering designs including engineering drawings, mass balance sheets, traffic plans (Haul Roads), drainage systems, etc.
- Manage internal and external teams of mining infrastructure engineers, technicians, consultants and suppliers.
- Act as technical liaison with clients, partners and consulting engineering firms.
- Facilitate technical reviews, HAZOP, and cost optimization committees with all relevant parties.
- Monitor the application of quality processes in all engineering phases.
- Develop CAPEX and OPEX estimates related to technical and processing infrastructure.
- Optimize designs to improve profitability, maintainability, and performance of mining facilities.
- Plan technical staff requirements according to project milestones (basic and detailed engineering, commissioning).
- Lead technical bids and evaluate critical suppliers (flotation, crushing, pumping systems, etc.).
- Present technical reports to the executive board.
- Monitor performance indicators (engineering progress, deliverable review, variance management).
- Build on lessons learned and update technical references for future projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil or structural engineering or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience including:
- Experience in consulting engineering practice.
- Expertise on international projects.
- Significant contribution to one or more major Greenfield mining projects.
- General knowledge of all engineering disciplines involved in mine construction.
- PMP certification (major asset).
- Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong budget management and project planning skills.
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.) or hold a licence to practice engineering in another province in Canada.
- Excellent communication and interaction skills with clients and internal teams.
- Fluency in the English and French languages. Portuguese and Spanish are considered major assets.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Inspiring leadership: ability to mobilize and motivate multi-disciplinary teams towards common goals.

- Strong analytical, synthesis and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions.
- Strong conflict management skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to work in an ever-changing environment.

- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard or remotely.
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
- Be available to occasionally travel internationally and within Canada to site.
