What We Offer
Interfor has posted the following expected salary range that the company believes in good faith could be offered to successful candidates. The salary offered is benchmarked to current market conditions and will also be based on numerous factors which can include work experience, skills, credentials, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive a competitive benefits package and be able to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Bonus plan, with the payout amount subject to individual and corporate performance. If you have any questions regarding our salary range or our total compensation package, our recruitment team will be happy to advise you on what you can expect from us.
Expected range: $165,000– $205,000 (CAD) per year

What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for setting and executing the entirety of Interfor’s sales strategy in the following functional areas:
- Export Sales & Logistics: Responsible for executing a progressive international sales strategy in all markets outside of the US, Canada, and Japan.
- Cedar Remanufacturing & Sales: Responsible for managing the entirety of our value-added finished Western Red Cedar business originating at our three sawmill operations in the BC Interior and through our three reman facilities in BC and Washington state.
- Western Specialty Sales: Responsible for working with the operations (product development) and finding new domestic and foreign markets (market development) armed with the most versatile mills and diverse softwood species mix in the world.
- Western Low-Grade Sales: Responsible for consistently finding the best margin opportunities for our low-grade products, regardless of the market.
- Build value for our customers by executing our promise to deliver quality products “on spec & on time”.
- Develop and support a high-performance team that delivers sales solutions and results to support operational and sales excellence.
- Drive margin while providing a valuable experience for our customers.
- Build and maintain internal peer relationships with domestic sales staff, senior operations personnel, logistics, and supply chain groups through open, respectful, and constructive communications that generate results-driven actions and outcomes.
- Drive sales growth and develop KPI performance measurement systems for increasing revenue contribution and communicating results regularly to senior staff.
- Implement streamlined and efficient logistics and administration processes.
- Ultimately, use this sales platform to provide ongoing margin opportunities to Interfor.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive sales & marketing experience with a thorough understanding of lumber sales & marketing and how sales decisions impact mill performance.
- Deep knowledge of export lumber sales and logistics and complex international business regulations.
- Familiarity with foreign policy, import & documentation requirements, and ocean freight.
- Involvement in managing strategic and/or business-critical customer relationships and contracts.
- Previous experience in developing and negotiating new customer business.
- Experience in specialty, value-added wood products manufacturing and sales.
- The ability to effectively negotiate claims.
- A lumber grading ticket or, at minimum, a working knowledge of softwood lumber grades.
- Modern knowledge and high competency in the Microsoft 365 suite.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot or equivalent.
- Experience in data analytics, specifically Tableau.
- The ability to work in-depth with sales platforms such as LumberTrack and CrossCut.
- A degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
- A valid passport and the ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive in various countries is also required.
- This is a full-time, in-office position.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills along with being detail and results oriented.
- The ability to lead a diverse product team and drive realized margin opportunities to the operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
- Strong negotiating skills (i.e., analytical, quick-thinking, innovative).
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to maintain a network of key contacts.
- Experience dealing with buyers around the globe and dealing with the challenges and nuances of international sales.
- The ability to measure and realize KPIs through heavy involvement with data analytics.
- Developing a highly efficient sales administration and logistics team.
- Developing and fostering a strong, positive working relationship with operations is paramount.
