Director of Financial Reporting

seeking a Director of Financial Reporting.

Reporting to the Vice President, Financial Accounting & Treasury, the Director of Financial
Reporting is an integral member of the management team. A senior member of the Finance
Team, the Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for preparing, reporting, and
analyzing the financial results of the organization. The Director of Financial Reporting will
play a significant role in budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management and debt
financing.

As Director of Financial Reporting, you will:

  • Taking ownership of the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate
completion of quarterly and annual consolidated reporting requirements in
accordance with ASPE.
  • Coordinate and lead the development of the organization’s annual budget across all
departments for presentation and approval by the executive team.
  • Develop financial models, proforma’s, and reports for special purpose projects and
initiatives. Presentation of financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the annual audit and assurance process, ensuring that all timelines are met and
within budget.
  • Responsible for tracking and maintaining all mortgage reporting and covenant
requirements. Work with lenders on any questions or information they require to
complete the annual loan reviews.
  • Responsible for continued performance and career development of team members,
ensuring the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel
capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities set out by the organization.
  • Provide strong leadership and advice in accounting and administration, particularly
related to significant transactions such as acquisitions or mortgage financing
  • Assist in the day-to-day cash flow management of the Company. Take ownership of
the working capital and cash forecasting model.
  • Review and be responsible for capital expenditure accounting and reporting, and
prepare reports for each financing draw for ongoing capital projects.
  • Research accounting implications and record appropriate disclosure of significant
routine and non-routine transactions or other technical accounting issues.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the overall accounting department process
while maintaining strong internal controls.


What we’re looking for:

  • CPA Designation.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related function.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience; prior experience in real estate is considered an
asset.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve by effectively managing the root cause of an issue.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with a focus on achieving
deadlines.
