JOB SUMMARY:
This assignment will support student understanding of knowledge management concepts in the health care setting, specifically how these concepts can support regulatory requirements and facilitate the provision of high-quality health care in Ontario.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Knowledge Management Co-op Student to join our team. In this position you will have the opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and expertise to help us design, develop, implement, and maintain an innovative and strategic approach to Medical Affairs knowledge management that will meet the current and future needs of Lakeridge Health, in line with the Public Hospitals Act ("PHA").
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Medical Affairs, the Knowledge Management Co-op Student is instrumental in collaboratively designing and developing a new knowledge management infrastructure for the Medical Affairs and Chief of Staff Office, largely focused on Credentialed Staff (physicians, midwives, dentists), as well as implementing the new model, developing Standard Operating Procedures, and training the team on its use. In the role, the Knowledge Management Co-op Student will be self-directed in their learning with health care regulations and combined with their experience, champion strategies between multiple stakeholders liaising with and supporting Lakeridge Health Credentialed Staff and Physician Leadership.
In the design and development phase, the Knowledge Management Co-op Student will be expected to draft various infrastructure options, and present to the Medical Affairs team as well as organizational leaders for feedback and direction. The role requires a proactive, dynamic, individual who has strong interpersonal skills, who is willing to take on new challenges and to identify and implement innovative ideas for improving knowledge management practices in Medical Affairs. Other duties may be assigned as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
" Enrolled in the Master of Information Degree Program (preferred, or related field) in good standing;
" Interest in the local healthcare context, specifically with Credentialed Staff (Physicians, Dentists, Midwives, etc.) preferred;
" Demonstrated knowledge of the PHA;
" Demonstrated ability to hold sensitive and confidential information;
" Demonstrated (or commitment to developing) project management, consulting, coaching, and facilitation skills;
" Motivated self-starter, who can execute on all phases of the project;
" Strong verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills;
" Intermediate level of computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (tested); a willingness to look to technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness;
" Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a strong team member with excellent interpersonal skills for a client focused environment;
" Knowledge of, or demonstrated willingness to learn adult learning theory, instructional methodologies, technology-enabled design and learning methods;
" Ability to digest complex external and internal information to inform the design and development of knowledge management systems;
" Ability to handle large quantities of files and digitization of same;
