As a member of AON's senior management team, the Director of Care (DOC) will influence how services are delivered, apply their nursing skills to the fullest, and truly make a difference in the lives of our residents. Reporting to the Executive Director, The DOC oversees the delivery of nursing and care services to our residents. The DOC leads and directs the entire care team, including nurses and personal support workers, ensuring that our high standards are achieved or exceeded.
The DOC will also:
- Oversee the development and execution of Care Plans for our residents, coordinate care delivery with physicians and other care providers, and advocate on behalf of residents and their families
- Help to develop and implement policies and procedures, completes quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are implemented and high quality standards are maintained.
- Promote effective communication within the department and throughout the Home, and stays current with developments in nursing and geriatric care.
- Make recommendations to improve department performance, and to manage budget and departmental resources
Qualifications:
- Current license from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 3-5 years experience, preferably in a long-term care or retirement setting
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Composure, demonstrated leadership skills, and sound judgment a must
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be available to respond to on-call and emergency needs outside of normal working hours
