Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited university
• Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
• Demonstrated knowledge with the Mental Health Act; Substitute Decision Makers Act and Health Care Consent Act preferred
• Experience working in a fast paced, multidisciplinary, acute care healthcare environment
• Strong assessment and treatment skills dealing with a major illness and related psychosocial issues
• Functions effectively both independently and interdependently with an interdisciplinary health care team
• Knowledge of individual and group behaviour, social and behavioural sciences
• Knowledge of the scientific methods including its application to problem-solving in social work practice
• Knowledge of verbal and non-verbal communication
• Knowledge of policies, legislation, programs and issues related to social welfare institutions and services
• Knowledge and commitment to social work values, ethics, roles and responsibilities
• Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal relations, problem-solving, communication, group dynamics, community development and other innovative approaches
• Demonstrated leadership in discharge planning and community networking resources
• Demonstrated skills in providing education to health care team and to multidisciplinary students
• Demonstrated ability to measure and evaluate practice change outcomes
• Supports research and innovation in practice
• Ability to support and assist health care teams facing change and stress in environment
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Teaching, Learning and Research

London Health Sciences Centre is proudly one of Canada's largest acute-care teaching and research hospitals.
