Cahill Technical Services, a division of The Cahill Group, is seeking qualified applicants for a Building Automation Technician to support our Building Controls Division in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As a Building Automation Technician, you will play a critical role in the start-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of building automation systems.
The Building Automation Technician will also perform database development and program controllers using various types of software. The Building Automation Technician will also support our ongoing projects by configuring system points that adhere to the specific requirements and highest standards of our key projects. In this role, you are technically minded, enthusiastic, and possess excellent multi-tasking skills. This will be a permanent position, working Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do
- Perform database development using the Niagara AX/4 platform.
- Program controllers with the use of software tools.
- Configure system points that adhere to the project requirements and standards.
- Build system graphics and ensure integration of third-party devices and equipment.
- Perform sensor calibration as needed.
- Maintain the assembly and pre-testing of control panels.
- Perform Measurement & Verification and Commissioning of systems while filling out all documentation as needed.
- Assist with energy efficiency audits, studies, and projects.
- Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of Building Automation control systems, utilizing knowledge of electrical systems, direct digital control, airflow, hydronics and refrigeration theory.
- Work with a variety of hand tools and meters, interpreting controls, mechanical and electrical drawings, plans, and specifications, to mount, assemble, test complete building controls systems.
- Liaise with customers on project sites and provide training when required.
- Travel to project sites as required.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.
- HVAC or Instrumentation Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience would be considered.
- Strong computer skills, software development, and familiarity with networking of systems and web applications.
- Experience working on Commercial Building Automation systems, PLC programming, HMI design, and/or commissioning would be considered an asset.
- Experience in troubleshooting and/or debugging of electrical and/or automated systems would be considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time.
