Job Description:

On behalf of our educational sector client, Affinity is looking for a Business Analyst to work on a project to develop a centralized software application (desktop and mobile formats) to streamline the tracking and management of community engagement initiatives. The Senior Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in gathering requirements, analyzing processes, and defining workflows to ensure the application meets the needs of faculty, staff, and students, with potential for broader institutional scalability. This position is part-time, 15-20 hours per week, and on-site in Winnipeg.



Responsibilities:

• Requirements Gathering: Facilitate workshops and stakeholder consultations to elicit and document business requirements.

• Gap Analysis: Conduct gap analysis to identify discrepancies between current and desired processes, producing detailed documentation.

• Workflow Design: Define and document future-state processes and workflows to support the application’s functionality.

• Deliverables: Create Business Requirements Documentation, Gap Analysis Documentation, Future State Documentation, and Process/Workflow Documentation.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Lead planning sessions with diverse groups, including senior stakeholders and executives.

• Progress Updates: Provide regular updates, including an initial overview within one month, progress reports at 2-3 months, and final deliverables by project completion (5 months).

• Collaboration: Use Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for team communication and document management.

• Data Analysis: Identify data fields to track participants across various stages of their educational journey.


Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.


Experience:

• 5+ years of business analysis experience in IT and/or business transformation projects.

• Proven ability to produce Business Requirements and Process Workflow Documentation.

• Experience facilitating workshops with diverse, senior-level stakeholders.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.

• Strong data analysis skills for tracking participant data.


Availability:

• Available for 15-20 hours/week during business hours (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, excluding institutional closures).


Technical Requirements:

• Provide own laptop.

• No travel budget; must work onsite without additional costs.


Preferred

• Certifications: PMI-PBA or IIBA-CBAP.


Experience:

• Work in a higher education setting, ideally in Canada.

• Expertise in business process re-engineering and application/package selection.

• Proficiency in gap analysis and documentation (current state, future state).

• Familiarity with CRM projects or M365 Power Apps.


Additional Assets

• Experience with Operational Change Management and Communication plans.

• Knowledge of Prince2 or Agile methodologies.

• Familiarity with privacy and information security protocols.

• Experience in multi-union environments or facilitating large, diverse workshops.
