Position Summary:

The Manager, Process Control is responsible for ensuring high-quality standards across the entire manufacturing process, including supplier quality, contract manufacturer performance, in-process inspections, and end-of-line testing. This role manages a team of Debug & Test Technicians and works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive defect reduction, process improvements, and supplier accountability.


Key Accountabilities:

In-Process & OGQA Inspection:

  • Oversee in-process assembly to detect and contain defects before test.
  • Lead a team of Test and Debug Technicians, responsible for functional testing, environmental testing and Burn-In.
  • Manage and reduce inventory sitting in various debug status’
  • Establish and influence Return to Vendor (RTV) processes for non-conforming materials.


Supplier & Contract Manufacturer (CM) Quality Management:

  • Assist in developing and enforcing supplier quality standards to ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
  • Work with contract manufacturers to ensure process control, defect tracking, and adherence to quality KPIs.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure suppliers meet cost, quality, and delivery expectations.


Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead failure analysis for non-conforming materials, production defects, and test failures within manufacturing and at CMs.
  • Work closely with Hardware Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to drive DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) improvements.
  • Drive quality training programs for operators, technicians, and engineers to improve process adherence.


Quality Metrics, Reporting & Compliance:

  • Own key manufacturing quality KPIs (First Pass Yield, Defect Rate, Scrap Rate, Supplier PPM, Cost of Quality).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IPC standards, and other industry-specific quality regulations.
  • Develop real-time quality dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility into performance trends.
  • Collaborate with IT and ERP teams to ensure quality data integration within NetSuite or PowerBI


Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or production quality roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing, PCBA production, mechanical assemblies, or industrial hardware.
  • Experience managing supplier and CM relationships, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with test fixture development/qualification, test software, and troubleshooting test failures.
  • Strong data analysis skills; experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Leadership experience managing test technicians or quality inspectors.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IPC standards, and regulatory compliance.

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing

Direct Reports: Debug & Test Technicians; works closely with Hardware Quality Leads & Director, Hardware Quality

Success Metrics:

  • Supplier Defect Rate (PPM): Reduction in incoming material issues.
  • First Pass Yield (FPY): Increase in production quality without rework.
  • In-Process Defect Rate: Reduction of defects caught during assembly.
  • End-of-Line Defect Rate: Improved functional test results at final QA.
  • Supplier & CM Quality Scorecards: Measurable supplier performance improvements.
  • Reduction in Manufacturing Scrap & Rework Costs.
