Summary

The Financial Services Officer is responsible for the proper processing and recording of all financial revenue transactions for their assigned group of Canada’s 343 Electoral District Associations (EDAs). They are also responsible for maintaining excellent communication with the EDA Financial Agents (FAs) and Chairs, ensuring the FAs understand the Canada Elections Act and the Income Tax Act as it applies to political contributions. Other responsibilities include processing National contributions, calculating personal benefit costs, verifying receipt information, and responding to stakeholders’ inquiries regarding tax receipts in a timely manner. The Financial Services Officer must have a strong familiarity with computers and large accounting and CRM software.

What you’ll be doing

  • Data entry into database.
  • Communicating and collaborating with internal stakeholders (EDAs) on a daily basis.
  • Assisting with receivables when required.
  • Assisting with payables when required.
  • Preparing donation reports as required (to calculate personal benefits).
  • Checking records for duplication/errors.
  • Checking and responding to emails in a timely fashion.
  • Performing basic management of electronic files (e.g., print, copy, and transfer).
  • Accessing information from a computer and/or maintaining a computer database.
  • Performing general office duties such as opening mail, preparing correspondence to donors when required, scanning documents, etc.
  • Keeping a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Adhering to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Reporting discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Following current standards and procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

You’ll need to have

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a business-related field.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and previous experience with databases such as Salesforce and Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience related to general administrative duties.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Ability to analyze data accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Related copy/mail/clerical experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand logical processes and work with strong attention to detail and timelines.
