About the job:
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Information Systems Support position engages in support duties for a variety of internal and or external users in a centralized computing environment. These duties include - remote troubleshooting, system security, call documentation, installation and configuration, tracking and assignment of user needs related to all Information Systems including hardware, software, network, videoconferencing and communications.

Typical duties and responsibilities:
- Responds to system, communication and user needs via telephone, e-mail and automated task creation by performing duties such as initial troubleshooting to resolve all hardware, software and network issues; remote resolution of most issues including installing and configuring of software and hardware, Virtual Private Network - VPN connectivity, and data access. Forwards or escalates unresolved issues to other Information Systems teams in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Provides technical expertise for users, including training in the use of hardware and software at all levels, by remaining technically current on the required hardware and software. Prepares instructional material.
  • Monitors and maintains various security systems for complex computer systems by performing duties such as adding, changing and deleting user accounts and access levels.
  • Provides communications for scheduled and emergency system downtime.
  • Maintains system for tracking user’s requests by performing duties such as entering information into the tracking database, generating related documentation including incident tickets.
  • Participates in the development of standard processes and procedures by performing duties such as documenting existing user needs and resolutions, proposing modifications to existing processes and integrating the modified processes into current practice.
  • Assigns work tasks to designated staff and provides related training and orientation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, graduation from a recognized two year computer systems technology diploma plus two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
