We are seeking a focused and adaptable Vocational Instructor who can deliver GECs high-impact outcome-oriented career exploration services to clients transitioning to new careers. You will work one on one with clients to help guide them to identify viable and sustainable career pathways using structured tools, assessments, and current labour market insights.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate regular structured career exploration sessions tailored to the clients needs.
- Guide clients through assessments (interests, aptitudes, transferable skills), goal setting, and decision-making processes.
- Support clients in identifying realistic and meaningful occupations that align with their education, training, experience, restrictions and limitations, values, commensurate earnings, goals etc.
- Introduce clients to appropriate labour market tools, occupational research platforms, and training resources (if applicable).
- Communicate clear and concise action plans to the client to guide next steps and empower them to make informed choices.
- Collaborate with program supervisors and managers to ensure consistency in service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and efficient session documentation while adhering to internal reporting policies and requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the vocational rehabilitation industry.
- Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to motivate and connect with diverse individuals.
- High level of organization and the ability to deliver impactful services within a focused and pre-determined duration.
- Experience working with military personnel, veterans, athletes, students, or newly arrived individuals.
- Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with disabilities or complex barriers to employment.
- Self-awareness, empathy, and professionalism.
- Reliable and consistent with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented and deadline driven.
- Computer or laptop with proof of antivirus software.
- High-speed internet connection.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office applications and ability to work with various systems/platforms.
- Familiarity with vocational assessments and career planning tools (e.g., ESDC resources, O*NET, or similar platforms).
- Criminal record check.
- Diploma or degree in Career Development, Human Services, Education, Counselling, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in career development or employment services.
- Knowledge of career counseling theory, labour market information, and vocational exploration strategies.
- A combination of equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered. If relying upon equivalency, ensure this is clearly identified within your resume.
- Relevant certifications or designations such as Career Professionals of Canada - CPC (Certified Career Development Practitioner-CCDP ), Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada VRAC (Registered Rehabilitation Professional - RRP, Registered Vocational Professional RVP), Canadian Society of Professionals in Disability Management CSPDM (Certified Disability Management Professional CDMP, Certified Return to Work Coordinator - CRTWC), College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals CVRP (Return to Work Disability Managers - RTWDM, Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional CVRP), etc.
- English is mandatory.
- French is considered a strong asset.
- Starting $25-$30 per hour.
