Responsibilities


Reporting directly to the Patient Services Coordinator, Dental Clinics, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for conducting patient chart audits to ensure compliance with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) requirements, and other governing bodies. The role will work closely with the 3rd and 4th year dental students to ensure audit concerns are resolved. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the clinical mentors regarding student patient portfolios and progression, as well as processing patient referrals. The role will provide the student body with the administrative clinical expertise necessary for the effective and efficient operations within the clinics.

Qualifications


Education:

  • 2-year Certified Dental Assistant or healthcare related program

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Experience in a Dental setting (office, laboratory, academic institution)
  • Experience understanding dental terminology and dental procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, with understanding of clinical/dental terminology, has the ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organization skills
  • Strong record of teamwork with motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Knowledge of Western policies and procedures preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet strict deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with internal and external clients
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through on work assignments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide a supportive and friendly environment
  • Strong computer software skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Ability to provide solutions where constructive thinking and innovation are required
  • Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft products, experience with Salud preferred, or other dental software packages
