The Instrumentation Technologist role is a three months (3) intern position at our facility.

Education/Experience

Technologist Certification in Electronics, Instrumentation or equivalent; OR high school graduate and five (5) years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience.

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, diagrams, and schematics, including wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and flow diagrams.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out written instructions relating to complex technical matters.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, open work environment with minimal supervision; self-motivated; ability to manage transition from task to task, dealing effectively with frequent change or unexpected events.
  • Ability to solve problems, troubleshoot complex systems, and make effective decisions.
  • Computer literate in MS Windows, Lotus Notes, MS Excel or similar programs.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Able to take responsibility for actions and outcomes; persist despite obstacles; willing to give long hours to the job; demonstrate dependability in difficult circumstances.

Responsibilities/Roles

  • Responsible for working in a safe manner, and reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for the quality of finished product, for quality records and for reporting impediments to quality.
  • Responsible for contributing to AMETEK's Continual Improvement Program, by making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Responsible for complying with AMETEK's internal policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ascertaining the time constraints for any task assigned, and completing the task within the allotted time.
  • Main role will be to checkout, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair Western Research products using production plans, wiring diagrams, flow diagrams, drawings and other verbal or written instructions, including technical manuals. Such products to include analyzers, printed circuit boards, shelters, rack-mount systems and other mechanical, optical or electronic sub-assemblies, both produced internally or sourced from an outside vendor.
  • Responsible for assisting with project-based customer inspections of AMETEK product.
  • Responsible for maintaining production records, checklists, work instructions, etc.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Responsible for providing technical assistance and recommendations to other departments.
  • Comfortable working around dangerous gases and wearing of protective equipment, SABA (Supplied air breathing apparatus) and SCBA ( self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Other duties as required by business conditions.
