Job Description:

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Network and Security Engineer based in Latin America for a remote six month contract.



As part of the Americas Infrastructure team, the Network and Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of IT infrastructure services. This role supports and leads the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of network and firewall technologies across the Americas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex network and firewall issues escalated from Tier II support.
  • Configure, install, and maintain firewalls and network devices (Cisco, Aruba, etc.).
  • Ensure the availability and performance of network/security infrastructure.
  • Lead network and security components of office integrations, moves, and upgrades.
  • Perform regular firmware/security upgrades across network systems.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot latency and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, standards, and asset inventory.
  • Support the migration from legacy systems to standardized technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and provide technical guidance to support teams.
  • Stay current on evolving technologies through training and industry engagement.
  • Travel within North America (up to 30%) as required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years in enterprise network support (Cisco, Aruba).
  • 5+ years in firewall administration (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching (STP, VLANs, LACP).
  • Experience with SD-WAN, Meraki Wireless, and F5 Load Balancers (preferred).
  • Proficient in using packet capture and LAN/WAN monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with QoS/CoS policies and network performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with physical infrastructure setup (cabling, rack/power).
  • Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.

Certifications

  • Required: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA – Routing & Switching)
  • Preferred/Assets:
    • CCNA Security
    • Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA)
    • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)
