The Vancouver studio of Perkins&Will is seeking a fulltime Payroll Specialist. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for approximately 250 Canadian employees across multiple studios and entities. This role requires close collaboration with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance departments to ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation and organizational policies.
Typical Years of Requisite Experience: 5–7 years
Licensure: Canadian Payroll Certification (FPC or CPP) preferred

Common And Baseline Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including updates for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and generate required reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
- Administer employee benefits, deductions, vacation, and sick leave calculations.
- Coordinate with payroll provider to file all federal and provincial payroll tax returns (e.g., T4s, ROEs).
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies from employees and supervisors.
- Support unemployment claims and payroll-related audits by preparing and submitting documentation.
- Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and internal procedures.
- Respond to internal data and reporting requests related to payroll.
- Collaborate with HR and Benefits teams to ensure accurate payroll setup and updates.
- Support Finance with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and other special assignments.
- Review and post weekly timesheets.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and best practices.
- Experience with multi-province payrolls; multi-country payroll a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment.
Software Proficiency:
- UKG Pro (preferred)
- Deltek Vantagepoint
- Microsoft Excel, Word
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
