What do you want to be today? Edmonton Public Library is looking for an outgoing and creative analyst to join our team! This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Planning Assessment & Research Analyst who is passionate about using real-life data and statistics to inform customer services, enable evidence-based decision making, and the evaluation of library programs and services.

Under the direction of the Manager, Planning, Assessment & Research, you will help to develop, plan, implement and deliver EPL’s assessment program in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Working with the library’s staff and leadership you will help with collecting and transforming a variety of internal and external data into completing reports, presentations, and data visualizations. In addition, you will complete research and evaluation projects, coordinate, and compile statistical reports on EPL’s business plan, identify and report on trends that will impact library services, and develop recommendations and implementation strategies for services and process improvements at EPL.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a related field (e.g. statistics, mathematics, science related field) including coursework in research methodology and statistical data analysis; a Master’s degree is an asset.
  • 5 years of work experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and performance measurement (candidates with less experience may be considered if they possess a Master’s degree).
  • Experience utilizing a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, designing, and implementing research projects, and reporting on results.
  • Advanced skills in the use of data collection, data wrangling, analysis, and visualization tools; experience working with SQL is an asset.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and in writing.


What do you need to bring to this position?

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving ability, including the ability to evaluate, assess and problem-solve using logical, fact-based reasoning even when information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous.
  • An understanding of and experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis and assessment methodologies, including the ability to utilize statistical analysis and data visualization software.
  • Ability to effectively apply data wrangling, analysis and visualization techniques to varied data types and sources to derive useful business information.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret how observed trends (activity, usage, demographic, social, etc.) will impact library services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and statistics to diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for providing quality results.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, presentation and collaboration skills.

Pay Band:

$41.02 - $52.36 per hour*

  • Approximately $74,954 – $95,661 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.


Hours of Work :

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week. This position works out of the Stanley A. Milner Library and is not eligible for remote work.
