How does the role impact the organization?
Raymond James Ltd. is seeking a Business Management Associate to join our Capital Markets team in our downtown Toronto office, reporting to the Director, Business Management, Equity Capital Markets. Raymond James Ltd. is one of North America’s leading publically traded full service investment dealers with an extensive presence across the United States, Canada and Europe.
Our Capital Markets team consists of Investment Bankers, Sales and Trading and Research professionals across 21 capital markets offices globally and delivers innovative domestic and international cross-border solutions for our institutional and corporate clients.
The Business Management Analyst/Associate position will offer the opportunity to gain significant understanding of the operations of capital markets; including the Investment Banking, Institutional Sales and Trading, and Equity Research Departments. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to take initiative, will possess exceptional organizational, operations, analytical, communication and presentation skills. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day- operations of the Capital Markets department through financial analysis, business reporting, project work and administrative support.

What will your role be responsible for?
- Assist the Capital Markets team in providing timely, confidential and professional service to all clients, both internal and external;
- Prepare presentations, analysis and memos as requested for senior management;
- Prepare and/or assist in preparation of regular business reporting for industry and financial requirements for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
- Assist in ensuring the department has functional operations in compliance, IT, risk and audit requirements;
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding and training and development of professional teams and new hires;
- Provide occasional administrative support including coordinating meetings, conference calls and select events;
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and budget planning, reporting and financial performance (department revenue and expense) analysis;
- Provide industry data and respond to various requests from Capital Markets Professionals and Department Heads on an ad hoc basis;
- Assist the department heads with managing workflows, strategic analysis and presentation, and special projects as required;
- Interface with other Raymond James internal departments;
- Interface with Raymond James vendors and other external parties where required for the efficient operations of the Capital Markets department;
- Proficiency in Excel is a requirement
- Building presentations and other documents as required;
- Maintain databases, records and files for efficient operation of the department; and
- Other duties as assigned.

What do we expect from you?
To qualify for this opportunity you possess:
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years of prior work experience, preferably with a Financial Institution in Capital Markets, middle-office or a related field;
- Have an undergraduate degree; preferably in business or a related field;
- Demonstrate an interest in operations, administration, finance and the capital markets;
- Excel naturally in a professional and dynamic environment, with the ability to exercise discretion and manage high volumes of work while maintaining accuracy;
- Have the ability to multi-task and work independently while functioning as part of a team;
- Have the ability to work directly with Senior Management;
- Possess quantitative and analytical skills;
- Possess strong organization skills and a keen attention to detail;
- Possess strong written & verbal communication skills;
- Possess strong proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint);
- Have a desire to learn various market data platforms, prior experience is an asset;
- Have a proven academic track record of strong performance; and
- Have a positive, enthusiastic and energetic attitude.
