Description


We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Compliance Manager to join our Facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations across our operations. You’ll serve as the subject matter expert on environmental risk, manage regulatory obligations, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders on development of world class environmental programs by adopting methodologies such as those found in ISO 14001, 50001, or similar environmental management systems.

Responsibilities


  • Conduct and manage environmental compliance audits and reporting across sites.
  • Oversee the completion of Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and related remediation programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through effective management of environmental reporting requirements related to:
    • Air, water, and waste licensing (e.g., Certificates of Approval, wastewater discharge permits).
    • Noise emissions, designated substances (e.g., asbestos, PCBs, ozone-depleting substances).
    • Contaminated sites and soil/water management.
  • Manage environmental spill response and reporting protocols.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies on compliance-related matters.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs and management systems.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure proper environmental practices, including fuel storage and waste management systems.
  • Support internal audits and site visits regarding environmental compliance.
  • Monitor and interpret changing environmental regulations to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Lead or support environmental remediation projects and consultant oversight related to site contamination.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience


  • 5–10 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in industrial or logistics sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience managing environmental site assessments and remediation programs.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex environmental regulations to practical business scenarios.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Professional certifications (e.g., EP, P.Eng., QEP) considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 environmental management systems considered an asset.
  • Experience working with environmental management software or reporting platforms.
  • Experience working with multi-site or national operations.
