Role Details Canadian Cancer Society Lodges provide a place to stay for cancer patients during their treatments away from home. It is a supportive environment for people with cancer and their adult companions. As a volunteer at the Lodge, you play an essential role in creating a home away from home for the clients and their families Description You will have a positive impact on those living with the disease by assisting lodge guests and staff through a variety of activities involving reception, answering questions, Lodge tours, front desk duties, and other team support around the Lodge. It’s an excellent opportunity to be part of a client services team and support cancer patients during, what can be, a challenging time in their lives
Your Duties would include:
  • Promote a social and caring atmosphere in the lodge, focusing attention and time on lodge guests.
  • Greets & provides tours for (potential) lodge guests and visitors.
  • Answers lodge phone, transfers calls, takes & relays messages.
  • Provides directions to treatment centers, public transportation, shopping etc.
  • Does general tidying and arranging of common areas.
  • Promotes Lodge & Canadian Cancer Society activities, & support services.
  • Other duties as assigned and under the direction of the lodge staff.

We welcome people of all backgrounds, abilities and interests. Volunteers must be at least 19 years of age or older for this position due to the scope of the role and responsibilities. Our Investment

Your commitment
  • A weekly volunteer shift, 3 hours in length. Shift hours are 10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm, or 4pm-7pm. Shifts available on Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri.
  • A 1 month trial period, 4 shifts to determine your interest in the role and suitability.
  • Once you are fully onboarded we ask for a consistent weekly commitment to your shift, where you will own the role and become familiar with the rhythm.
