Position Overview
The client is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Mechanical Estimator to join their team and support the accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical system projects. This individual will play a key role in reviewing project documentation, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and producing detailed cost breakdowns that inform competitive bids and client proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts to define project scope and technical requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams and clients to clarify objectives and gather necessary data.
Prepare precise and comprehensive cost estimates using tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Excel.
Analyze project needs in terms of labor, materials, and equipment; identify value engineering opportunities.
Present detailed cost proposals and support discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain a regularly updated cost database to support accurate and efficient estimating processes.
Engage in ongoing training to enhance technical and sales capabilities.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or refrigeration systems and related codes.
Excellent interpretation of construction drawings and technical documents.
Proficiency in estimating tools (AutoBid), markup platforms (Bluebeam), and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
Clear and effective communicator with collaborative teamwork skills.
Capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic setting.
Qualifications:
Journeyman certification in Sheet Metal/HVAC or Plumbing is a strong asset.
Proven experience in mechanical estimating within commercial or institutional projects.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) integration is advantageous.
