Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising maintenance employees, and developing and maintaining a schedule for machinery and equipment repair and maintenance.

The Maintenance Supervisor is an active participant in the Argus Leadership Team, contributing to achieving company objectives, and strategic short and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintenance

  • Plan and deliver maintenance and repair schedules based on customer and machine requirements, within the Argus locations, ensuring quality and customer requirements are upheld.
  • In collaboration with Plant Supervisors, ensure facilities and equipment are maintained regularly so that machines run effectively and efficiently.
  • Review and evaluate the condition of machinery and equipment. Maintaining/repairing as required or making recommendations for replacement.
  • Work jointly with the Manufacturing Manager to ensure effective employee resource allocation based on machine and customer requirements.
  • Ensure schedules of repair / maintenance for the machines and equipment are kept up to date by the Maintenance team.
  • Proactively manage changes in maintenance scope, identify potential blockages, and devise contingency plans.
  • Orders machine parts and specialty tools as required.
  • Make recommendations to the Manufacturing Manager on capital asset purchases and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Manage millwrights’ workload, assigning tasks based on schedules and customer needs.
  • Address any questions the team have on their work tasks.
  • Operate all machines and equipment within the shops and use shop tools, as required, to determine and deliver maintenance needs.
  • Ensure department KPIs are shared amongst team and achieved on a monthly/ annual basis. Investigate when KPIs are not met and work with team to identify improvements as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise Maintenance team: recruiting, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Train and motivate employees regarding inspection operations, drawings, prints, and quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure Maintenance team are diligently following work instructions and specifications, supporting and training where necessary.
  • Prioritize schedules based on product availability and manufacturing schedules.
  • Verify employee time in AX daily, for payroll purposes.
  • Responsible for promoting safety throughout Argus, in line with legislation:
  • Promote safety by providing necessary resources, equipment and PPE,
  • Ensure work practices are safe.
  • Complete accident investigations and emergency evacuations as required.
  • Hold monthly toolbox meetings covering provided safety agendas.

Position Qualifications And Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory/ managing role in a manufacturing environment, responsible for the direct supervision and leadership of personnel.
  • 5+ years’ experience of in a machine shop.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman machinist / millwright status.
  • Crane & forklift trained?
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Experienced user of computer software including Microsoft Office, Adobe and Dynamics AX.
  • General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles and the ability to impart that knowledge to others.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

  • Machine shop environment with extended walking/ standing, limited sitting.
  • Working wearing personal protective equipment 100% of work time.
  • Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
