The Opportunity

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing invoices (Analyzing invoices, supporting internal and external stakeholders), expense claims, and producing weekly payments under company procedures.

Location: We give you the option with flexibility! This can be a hybrid role based out of MEC Head Office in Vancouver or remote within Canada.

As The Accounts Payable Specialist, You'll Be

  • Monitor invoice inflow in various systems and ensure accurate data entry in the ERP system
  • Perform 3-way matching for invoices with Purchase Orders
  • Seek appropriate approval in the workflow system (SharePoint) from department heads and store managers for invoices without Purchase Orders
  • Process high volume of invoices in Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Prepare weekly vendor payments via EFT/ACH, Wire, and Cheque
  • Perform follow-up on invoice disputes and resolve billing and payment issues (e.g. outstanding/past due accounts, failed payments)
  • Perform vendor account statement reconciliation
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements with all cardholders
  • Verify and process expense claims
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders with clarity to facilitate positive vendor relationship
  • Perform accrual tasks during period and year end to maintain accurate financial records
  • Update vendor financial information in the ERP system to ensure accurate execution of payments
  • Respond to ADHOC tasks to allow stakeholders in making decisions

What You Bring

  • Two (2) years or more of accounts payable or accounts receivable experience is preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365, or other robust ERP software is a plus
  • Ability to handle a fast-pace and high-volume environment with accuracy and quality
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders with professionalism
  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounting, purchasing, and business processes is an asset
  • Proactive and ability to work independently, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Outlook

The Compensation & Perks

This is an permanent role with an anticipated annual base salary range of $48,000 to $52,000. The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s relevant skills, experience, location, qualifications and internal equity. This role is eligible for our annual variable incentive plan.
