Purpose

The pharmacy cashier will serve as a customer service and clerical support for iCcare Pharmacy Sault Area Hospital. The main duties include greeting customers at the counter, locating their prescription and cashing out prescriptions. Other duties include calling patients to notify them their prescriptions are ready, maintaining the over-the counter drug area of the pharmacy, tracking accounts receivables/payables for the pharmacy and end of month statistics.

Duties

  • Open and balance daily cash register
  • Greet customers at the counter
  • Locate customer prescriptions
  • Cash prescriptions out at register
  • Refer patient questions to pharmacy team
  • Maintain inventory of over-the-counter on point of sale system
  • Remove expired products from over-the-counter drug section
  • Merchandise and create planograms for retail section of pharmacy
  • Put drug orders away in the over-the-counter drug section
  • Update pricing labels in over-the-counter drug section
  • Track and process accounts receivables for the iCcare pharmacy including patient payments, compassionate program payments and ordinary commercial term payments and summarize payments in a spreadsheet
  • Scan account payable documents to Finance Department and save to our files
  • Call patients to pick up their prescriptions
  • Complete monthly over-the-counter inventory count
  • Optimize over-the-counter item pricing
  • Complete frequency of dispensing forms for applicable patients
  • Order and restock supplies as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent education and/or experience, preferably in a health care environment.

Experience

  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment including experience in the development of spreadsheets, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Visio
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and billing financial cycle and month end/year end requirements.
  • Knowledge of hospital software applications such as Meditech, ADT, ADM and PHA, and Xerox.

Ability

  • Proficiency in using telephone systems, data projectors, laptop computers, video and phone conference equipment
  • Proficiency and accuracy in clerical tasks including data entry, keyboarding, filing systems, documentation etc.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast paced environment in stressful situations.
  • Customer service, interpersonal and telephone skills.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including extended standing
