Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to join the team as a Process Engineer supporting our Nitric Acid area to contribute to the organization’s value creation capabilities.

Based in Brandon, Manitoba, Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC’s (KFCU) operations have been producing agricultural fertilizer products since 1967. We synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. What You Will Do

  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and other Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements that require Process knowledge.
  • Review process health of assigned plant area to ensure Optimization as well as compliance to Safe Operating Condition Limits. Work with operators to adjust Process parameters as needed.
  • Review Operating procedures routinely and after plant changes, adjusting them as needed to improve their effectiveness and clarity.
  • As owner of plant Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams for the assigned area, review and approve changes made to ensure they are within requirements of industry best practices and PSM.
  • Support the Engineering and Reliability team by reviewing equipment designs and ensuring process data used in design packages are accurately represented.
  • Guide and mentor operators to improve their Process knowledge and capability.

  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Availability for flexible hours based on job
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights
  • Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic/caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
  • Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
  • Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
  • Ability to use a computer and create reports.
  • Demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Multitask in a fast-paced environment


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Holds a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Completion of a B.Sc. (or higher) in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an industrial facility
  • Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, instrument loop drawings and other process design related documentation.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working with the Process Optimization software such as HTRI
  • Previous work experience in a chemical Fertilizer plant, with specific tasks related to Process Safety and Optimization and production processes
  • Knowledge and experience with OSHA PSM requirements
  • Experience with Process Controls design and programming
  • Registration as a P.Eng in a Canadian Province.
