About Us

Since 1978 Air Inuit has been providing scheduled, charter, cargo, and emergency air transportation services in Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of over 35 aircraft ranging from a Twin Otter 300 Series to a Boeing 737 200C, 300 and 800 and employs over 1000 employees in one of the most challenging flight environments.

Role Overview

The Paymaster is a vital member of the Air Inuit payroll team. They are responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse workforce. This role is essential in maintaining payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and supporting overall employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for unionized and non-unionized employees across various departments.
  • Meticulously and accurately calculate wages, overtime, premiums, and deductions.
  • Distribute pay via direct deposit or approved methods.


Time And Attendance Management

  • Validate worked hours and leave records.
  • Coordinate with teams to verify duty hours and flight rotations.


Regulatory Compliance And Reporting

  • Ensure payroll compliance with labor laws, tax codes, and union agreements.
  • Prepare and submit mandatory filings (e.g., T4/RL-1, ROE).


Employee Records And Data Management

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including salary and position changes.
  • Enter new hires, terminations, and leaves into the payroll system.


Employee Support And Miscellaneous

  • Address payroll-related inquiries.
  • Provide guidance on pay statements, deductions, and vacation accruals.
  • Perform any other related tasks or produce any other reports according to the department's operational needs and objectives.


What Will Make You An Ideal Candidate

  • Diploma or certification in Payroll Administration, Accounting, finance or Human Resources is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of payroll experience, ideally in a unionized or aviation-related environment.
  • Proven experience in the complete year-end process.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and employment standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software ADP Workforce Now (an asset)
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
  • Experience with shift-based or flight-crew payroll is an asset.
  • Effective communication and exceptional customer service skills


Compensation

  • Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with company policy.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Location: Air Inuit Head Office, located in Ville St-Laurent.
  • Permanent role, offering stability and growth.
  • Schedule: Enjoy a Monday to Friday workweek, totaling 37.5 hours.
  • Office Presence: Required to be in the office for four days a week, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
