Responsibilities
The Risk Management Department contributes to the sustainable growth of the Societe Generale group through its expertise, understanding of risks, and risk management techniques. The department’s mission is to independently analyze, assess, manage and monitor risk-taking activities including those associated with new products, with the objective of achieving, together with the first line-of-defense, the best possible outcome for the bank. The department oversees the enterprise, strategic, credit, counterparty, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks of the corporate and investment banking business activities. The RISQ division in the US supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which is almost exclusively SGCIB-oriented.
Within the RISQ Division, the Enterprise Risk Management department has the following remit, across all risk types to which SG’s Americas operations (SG AMER) are exposed:

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
This VIE in Canada is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24months.
In case a Visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.

Within the RISQ Division, the Enterprise Risk Management department has the following remit, across all risk types to which SG’s Americas operations (SG AMER) are exposed:
- Coordinate the RISQ departments detailed and documented assessment of New and Living Products which SG AMER is exposed to;
- Oversee ongoing development of the New Product Policy.
- Contribute to the coordination with the RISQ departments / second line of defense (“2LOD”) of the detailed and documented assessment of New and Living Products which SG AMER is exposed to, and oversee the ongoing development of the New Product Policy
- Contributing to maintaining the New and Living Product pipeline for RISQ, ensuring the SMEs of the RISQ departments maintain a robust understanding of the New Product Committee ("NPC") process and pipeline, including their respectives roles and responsibilities.
- Contribute to the identification, assessement, understanding, addressing and mitigation of all type of risks (counterparty, credit, market, liquidity, model, environmental and social, business and strategic, country, operational - including fraud - and reputational risks) introduced by a New and Living Products.
- Contribute during the study:
- To the review of the products, consulting with the SMEs of the RISQ departments
- To ensuring all the SMEs of the RISQ departments have completed their review before moving to the validation step
- To the record of their opinion and conditions in the New and Living Products tool
- Contribute post-validation to the first trade monitoring with the help of the SMEs involved
- Contribute post-validation to the proper follow-up and closure of pre and post-conditions assigned by the Risk stripes SMEs
- Contribute to the execution of NPC-related controls on a periodic basis
- Contribute to supporting transversal topics linked to new or living products such as risk assessment, change-the-bank activities and systems design
- Contribute to working with all RISQ / 2LOD teams to improve the efficiency of the risk monitoring and enhance the development and usage of risk analytics.

Studies & experience:
- Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance
- A previous experience in Risk Management, Financial Control Systems or Operations in a Capital Markets context would be appreciated
- Fluent in English (B2-C1)
- Knowledge in capital markets activities and financial products
- Knowledge in risk management concepts and measurement techniques
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical mindset
- Creativity and innovative mindset to problem solving
- Proficient/Good command of MS Office
- Data management and data analysis skills including data visualization (e.g., Power BI)
- Experience in programming (Python, R)
