About RL Core Technologies
RL Core Technologies is building intelligent systems that optimize industrial processes in real time. We use reinforcement learning (RL) (agentic AI) to bring autonomy, efficiency, and adaptive control to complex physical environments — starting with water and energy infrastructure. We are defining a new software category: Real-Time Autonomous Optimization. Our mission is to help operators improve outcomes, and reduce environmental impact — not with dashboards, but with decisions. Learn more at rlcore.ai.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a bold, technically fluent, hands-on Product Manager to lead the development of our Real-Time Optimization Platform — a system that learns and adapts to dynamic industrial processes through real-world interaction. This is not a traditional SaaS interface. You’ll help build the core intelligence layer — the RL systems, integration points, orchestration — that allows infrastructure to self-optimize. You will work directly with our CEO, President / CPO, and engineering team to shape the product from the ground up, translating domain complexity into elegant, field-tested solutions that drive operational change.
Key Responsibilities
Product Roadmap & Vision
- Own the product roadmap for real-time optimization agents, integration, and customer-facing deployment tools.
- Synthesize customer pain points, technical constraints, and industry signals into a clear, opinionated product direction.
- Define success metrics across product components — not just usage, but learning efficiency, control performance, and real-world impact.
Customer Discovery & Product Definition
- Work closely with customers — operators, engineers, and field staff — to understand workflows and decision dynamics.
- Conduct site visits, user interviews, and shadowing sessions to bring grounded insight into product development.
- Translate fuzzy needs into crisp product requirements and implementation specs.
Execution & Iteration
- Write detailed product specs for platform components, including RL agent APIs, simulation tools, orchestration layers, and interfaces.
- Work hands-on with engineering and science teams to test, debug, and improve algorithms and systems.
- Ensure system validation and iteration — work with engineering to simulate deployment scenarios, observe control decisions under real-world constraints, and translate technical performance into roadmap refinements
Data-Driven Feedback Loops
- Instrument the platform to capture performance, user interaction, and system behavior metrics.
- Build the scaffolding for experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Use data to guide iteration cycles, prioritization, and roadmap evolution.
Go-to-Market Enablement
- Partner with Go-to-market, Technical Program Manager and Engineering to implement early customer deployments and turn insights into product learnings.
- Contribute to product positioning, onboarding materials, and customer narratives that translate technical depth into business value.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in product management, engineering or applied AI - with proven experience translating real world needs into shipped software, driving cross functional efforts from concept to impact.
- Strong technical fluency - you’ve shipped complex software products and can engage deeply with engineers, researchers, and domain experts.
- Experience leading products through ambiguous 0→1 phases, especially in AI/ML, simulation, control systems, or industrial automation.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize user insight, data, and first principles thinking into product action.
- Clear, crisp communicator — you can articulate decisions and strategies across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, or simulation environments.
- Background in process control, automation, or operations technology (OT).
- Experience deploying AI systems in safety-critical environments.
Why Join RL Core
- Join early — help define the product, the team, and the culture. Help define a new frontier in AI, a new category
- Work with top minds in RL, simulation, and applied AI, in a company small enough for your fingerprints to be everywhere.
- Tackle real-world problems that matter — from energy efficiency to water resilience.
- Full health and dental plan, equity upside, flexible vacation, and in-office perks in downtown Edmonton
