Job Description

Work Term: Full-time (On-site)

Location: Toronto, ON

Our Klick Labs is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Digital Biomarker research with a focus on vocal biomarkers. This team explores how the human voice can serve as a non-invasive window into health—detecting physiological and pathological changes through cutting-edge research in acoustics, signal processing, and computational modeling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Complete graduate degree in a relevant field such as: Biophysics, Bioacoustics, Speech Analysis or Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics (with a focus on Biology), Electrical Engineering (with a focus on Biology)
  • 0–3 years of relevant research or industry experience
  • Proficiency in Python for scientific computing and data analysis
  • Experience conducting research, including aspects of study design, ethics submission, or manuscript writing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively convey ideas, collaborate with team members, and engage with diverse stakeholders


Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD or Post-doc in a relevant field
  • Experience working with human subjects or acoustic/voice data
  • Familiarity with digital health, vocal biomarkers, or machine learning
  • Peer reviewed publication or conference paper on relevant domain


What You'll Do:

  • Conduct research on digital and vocal biomarkers to support non-invasive detection of diseases or physiological states
  • Analyze voice data using techniques from bioacoustics, signal processing, and applied mathematics
  • Use Python and scientific libraries to process and interpret acoustic datasets
  • Contribute to study design and prepare regulatory documentation, including ethics applications
  • Support scientific communication efforts such as manuscript writing and presenting research findings
