Sense Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineering Group Lead to grow our Vancouver structural team. Reporting to the Vancouver Board of Directors, this position will be responsible for new building business development, production and building the team. The position will also collaborate closely with our small and dedicated existing team of project managers and associates to oversee structural projects from conceptual design to final delivery for clients. Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Lead the process of identifying and successfully securing strategic business development opportunities in structural engineering consulting services for buildings.
- Assist in developing, and implement strategic growth initiatives, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Represent Sense at client meetings, industry events, and other networking functions.
- Assist in preparing proposals, presentations and other promotional materials to effectively communicate the value of our services.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor with a client-centric approach.
- Lead structural design projects for new and existing structures.
- Oversee all phases of a project, including resource planning, providing technical oversight on the design and analysis of structural components, preparing detailed drawings, and writing technical reports.
- Leverage project managers and associates who will conduct field reviews, site investigations, and condition assessments.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop optimal structural solutions that balance innovation with efficiency.
- Commitment to continuous learning by staying updated with industry trends, codes, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing across the country.
- Occasional travel within Canada required, with the majority of projects to be within BC.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering design and leadership, with a proven track record in lead generation, relationship management, and revenue growth.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Registered with or eligible for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
- Struct Eng and SE designations are assets, but not requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with a client-centric mindset.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build strong professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and people by leveraging demonstrated project management skills.
- Proficiency in building codes, structural analysis, and design software (S-Frame, ETABS, spSlab).
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.

- Salary Range is $150,000 - $175,000 inclusive of an average profit-sharing bonus which is dependant upon performance.
