Department: Mailroom & Distribution
Position Type: Temporary/Casual
Hours of Work: 7 hours per day
Hourly Salary: $29.13/hour +20% in lieu of benefits (14% if contributing to MPP)
This position is 100% in-person at the VSB Education Centre (1580 West Broadway)
This is a casual position requiring full-time availability with potential extensions. Once hired, the successful candidate will also have access to VSB internal postings for other temporary or permanent positions.

Job Band Description:
Performs operational, stores, and cataloguing functions involving a variety of procedures, materials, machinery and equipment. Work includes receiving, storing and distributing a variety of supplies and materials, coordination deliveries, maintaining statistics, computerized databases or inventory file records and operating a variety of equipment including binders, printing presses or forklifts.

Job Band Description:
Performs operational, stores, and cataloguing functions involving a variety of procedures, materials, machinery and equipment. Work includes receiving, storing and distributing a variety of supplies and materials, coordination deliveries, maintaining statistics, computerized databases or inventory file records and operating a variety of equipment including binders, printing presses or forklifts.
In this position, you will:
- Receive, collect, and sort incoming mail and inter-school mail and weighs, meters and packages outgoing mail
- Prepare outgoing school mail for pick up according to predetermined schedules
- Arrange courier requests, form orders for schools and departments
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of mail processing equipment, e.g., postage machine, scales, mail openers and related equipment, including, folding and insertion machines and power pallet jack
- Answer a variety of enquiries relating to mail and postal regulations
- Provide technical and resource support to the department
- Perform other work within the job band as assigned
- Completion of grade 12 plus one (1) year of experience with shipping/handling
- Must be able to lift, carry and maneuver heavy materials (minimum 50 lbs)
- Must have good organizational and time managements skills
