We're on the hunt for the one!

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (Independent Contractor) to join our team as an independent contractor who will be responsible for authorizing and training nursing tasks performed by non-nursing personnel (Home Support Workers) in clients' homes. This position requires strong clinical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to patient safety and care.

Responsibilities

  • Authorization and Delegation: Delegate nursing tasks to non-nursing personnel while ensuring tasks are performed within the LPN's scope of practice and according to established policies and procedures.
  • Training and Supervision: Provide thorough training, supervision, and ongoing support to non-nursing personnel to ensure competence and compliance with care protocols.
  • Clinical Tasks: Perform specified nursing procedures as mandated by Regional Health Authorities, which may include but are not limited to: Safe patient transfers and use of mechanical lifts. Glucose checks and monitoring. Medication administration following established protocols. Basic wound dressing changes and wound care. Tube feeding administration and management. Catheter and ostomy care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions, assessments, and delegated tasks in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Communication: Collaborate effectively with clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and patient well-being.

What you'll bring?

The candidate must hold a current LPN license in Newfoundland and Labrador and in good standing with CLPNNL. They should have clinical nursing experience, ideally in home healthcare or a comparable environment, demonstrating strong abilities in clinical assessment and critical thinking. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside the ability to work autonomously and efficiently manage time. A dedication to patient-centered care and ensuring safety is paramount. This position involves travel to clients' homes within Corner Brook and surrounding areas, requiring flexibility in hours to accommodate client needs, including potential evening or weekend visits. Applicants must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
