We are seeking applications for a Maintenance Technician at St. Thomas Centre - Facilities located in the Okotoks, Alberta. This is a full-time year-round position averaging 40 hours per week.

Daily tasks will require a variety of skillsets and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Conducting scheduled inspections of mechanical systems including boilers, rooftop units, air handlers, exhaust fans, parking lots, playgrounds and other facility components.
  • Performing general and preventative maintenance tasks across school division facilities.
  • Addressing urgent facility needs such as leaks, power outages, and broken fixtures.
  • Executing minor repairs (e.g., drywall, flooring, ceiling tiles, painting) to maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
  • Supporting seasonal groundskeeping, including snow removal, landscaping, pest control, and surface maintenance.
  • Assisting in facility upgrade projects including demolition and finishing tasks.
  • Monitoring and maintaining interior finishes, building security systems, and emergency hardware.
  • Collaborating with custodial staff and administrators to ensure seamless facility operation.
  • Operating equipment such as power tools, manlifts, trucks, trailers, and groundskeeping machinery safely and effectively.
  • Following all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and maintenance of equipment inventory.
  • Perform general repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, and minor electrical work).

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and the ability to operate a division vehicle for work-related travel are required.
  • Must have the physical ability to safely lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Experience or knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, control systems, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping, along with specialized training in fall protection, building systems monitoring, and mechanical troubleshooting, is considered an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
