Important Information For CUPE 1734 Members
LA.11.7 Those twelve (12) month employees filling vacancies as a result of their applying to a job posting are to remain twelve (12) months at their position. Ten (10) month employees are to remain in their position until the end of the school year. This requirement can be waived with permission from the Superintendent responsible for Human Resource Services. This does not prevent employees from applying for a position or from applying for a promotion during the twelve (12) month period.
Applicants will be deemed to have the educational qualifications, according to the job description for the classification they are currently in, as per the terms of the current CUPE Local 1734 Collective Agreement. Permanent CUPE 1734 applicants will be considered first in the selection process.

Major Responsibilities
- To assist in the selection, development, testing, implementation, enhancement and ongoing operational support of Board instructional and productivity computing devices, network and cloud based services, data applications and voice services.
- To trouble-shoot, research and solve problems related to the Board’s instructional and productivity computing devices, network and cloud based services, data applications and voice services.
- To configure and support Local, Wide Area & Wireless networks to facilitate the internal and remote use of all network based services (applications, telecom, security, internet, cloud based).
- To install, upgrade and maintain multiple versions of software solutions on multiple hardware computing platforms using industry standard development and scripting tools.
- To develop customized software installation and upgrade documentation for Board staff and students.
- To provide technical support in the areas of network and telecom administration, servers management, computing devices, software installations, configurations and upgrades.
- To provide needs assessments and recommendations for hardware, software and network requirements.
- To maintain a record of all problem and incident resolutions and update call ticket status using the Board’s Enterprise Help Desk System.
- To set up initial user accounts for all school networks and provide updates on an annual basis.
- To identify and record deficiencies expressed by the clients and recommend enhancements as required.
- To work as an active member of the Information Technology Services team.
- To attend meetings as required.
- To attend professional development sessions/training as required
- To perform other duties as assigned.
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma with three years of post-secondary education in computer science or business administration is required.
- Minimum two years related experience is required.
- An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Suite, server solutions, instructional and productivity technology and Board approved/implemented software is required. Ability to explain features and functionality to all levels of users is required.
- Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
- Requirements in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position include shift work and on-call support.
