The Nanaimo News Bulletin has an opening for an immediate permanent, full-time Ad Controller in our front office.

The position requires a highly organized individual with great attention to detail and the ability to operate in a fast-paced team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills plus proficiency in Excel is a must. You will need to be able to multi-task and strive to offer our clients and readers the best customer service possible.

Familiarity with Mac based platform and Google Docs are benefits. Responsibilities of the position include booking and trafficking advertising to publications in British Columbia including community newspapers, specialty publications, digital and social media tactics. You will be at the centre of the action contributing to a team of dynamic sales, marketing and creative professionals.

The successful candidate will be working in the News Bulletin office in Nanaimo 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday (no weekends). Key responsibilities and duties of the Ad Controller include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Booking insertion orders in a timely manner to meet all deadlines
  • Determine size of newspaper, position of ads, creating physical layout of newspaper for editorial and creative services
  • Page assigning
  • Requesting location setups for features
  • Account inquiries for clients and sales reps
  • Printing reports and creating Excel files within prescribed deadlines
  • Managing prepay accounts and recording incoming payments
  • Bank deposits
  • Assisting the accounting department with paper reconciliations
  • Manage themed advertising pages (ensure billed correctly, upload ad into our system)
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager

Start date: As soon as possible.

Expected hourly rate: $20.00
