Purpose
The VP, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Data Analytics role is accountable and responsible for the data strategy across all GTB (Product, Sales, Operations, Client Service, etc). This role sets the analytics strategy for GTB as well as defines and manages the governance of our data, also acting as a data steward. The incumbent will lead teams that will work with Engineering to architect the destination state platform, build a self-service model for data analytics, setup and manage the governance of the platform, and look for revenue generating opportunities. The role requires both technical expertise as well as strategic leadership abilities to align data initiatives with business goals.
The role will require a deep understanding of data analytics and business intelligence best practices to align data with strategic business objectives, design a consistent data architecture for GTB (including but not limited to financial, sales, client, product metrics) foster a data-driven culture and ensure a robust data governance.
Accountabilities
Lead the development and execution of data-driven strategies to support business growth, operational efficiency, and innovation across the GTB organization. This senior leadership role will oversee a global team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions that provide actionable insights, enhance decision-making, and drive competitive advantage. Partner closely with business leaders, product teams, and engineering to prioritize data and analytics action plans and initiatives that align with key GTB business objectives. Partner closely with engineering to define architecture for the GTB next gen data platform. This role provides subject matter expert in areas such as regulatory requirements for data localization, data privacy, slow and fast layers to support different data requirements which will result in a complex data structure to power internal BI as well as our client facing applications. In addition, this role must prioritize data security and work closely with our CISO to ensure that no data can be compromised. Collaborate with GTB’s executive leadership in defining, monitoring, and publishing KPIs and key performance metrics, as well as developing a globally consistent data architecture that supports these, in partnership with other key areas of the Bank including Strategy and Operations, Analytics and Innovation (CIDA), Client Insights and Analytics (GBM), Finance, GTB Product and Global Transaction Banking Operations. Acts as a strategic advisor to GTB and related business units, translating complex data sets into deep insights into the end to end of the GTB business and all critical aspects and workflows (as listed below) as well as clear, actionable recommendations.

Accountabilities
- Globally consistent Client level metrics (Revenue, Profitability, Transactional patterns, Experience)
- Client and Sales activity metrics (Pipeline, Client Wins, Implementation, Aging)
- Product level metrics (Transactional Volume, profitability)
- GTB Performance across all key dimensions: Regions, Segments, Countries, Business Divisions
- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the GTB Policies and Procedures, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or a related field. A master’s degree or MBR is preferred.
- Meaningful professional experience (10+ years) in similar roles in the Financial Services industry
- Strong proficiency in Business Intelligence/Data Analytics tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and Client Relationship Management platforms (e.g. Salesforce)
- Experience with Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Experience leading global teams and managing data initiatives across multiple regions and time zones.
- Knowledge of industry-specific data practices, regulatory requirements and competitive landscape.
- Experience in Advanced Analytics
