Job Summary

As a Parts Technician, you’ll be the face of our parts department—helping walk-in customers, fielding phone inquiries, and troubleshooting a wide range of parts issues. You’ll handle purchase orders and sell retail products, all while ensuring our customers receive the best possible service. This role requires working knowledge of inventory systems and the ability to work collaboratively as part of our team.

Responsibilities

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Identify customer needs and provide information or recommendations on parts and products.
  • Process orders, answer inquiries, and resolve customer issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively via phone, email, and text.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including stock levels and part numbers.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments of parts and products.
  • Ensure quick turnaround of any parts on backorder for customers and the shop.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder parts as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Assist with picking, packing, and shipping parts orders to customers and the shop.

Parts Knowledge

  • Possess a deep understanding of the products and parts we offer.
  • Identify and locate specific parts quickly and accurately.
  • Provide technical information and assistance to customers.

Sales And Upselling

  • Promote additional products or accessories to customers when applicable.
  • Achieve sales targets and goals set by the parts department.
  • Participate in phone and marketing campaigns to grow parts sales.

Documentation

  • Record all sales and customer transactions accurately using our inventory software (Intellidealer).
  • Prepare invoices, receipts, and other necessary documentation.

Organization And Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained parts department and sales floor.
  • Arrange parts systematically for easy access, ensuring displays are neat and priced.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment parts, automotive, industrial, or a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with parts catalogues and reference materials.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and provide exceptional service.
  • Precision in identifying and handling parts accurately.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to upsell products.
  • Ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Basic warehousing experience including shipping, receiving, picking & packing.
  • Record-keeping skills

Additional Requirements

  • Physical resistance to lift and move heavy parts when necessary.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some overtime work is required during peak seasons.
