Purpose Of The Position
Purpose Of The Position
- Participate in Websphere MQ (messaging) Consolidation and NTTData Unikix (mainframe emulation) upgrade projects.
- Monitor application health and availability checks for all Shared Services (Middleware) applications, taking corrective actions to maintain health, availability, and capacity.
- Participate in Business Continuity services for Disaster Recovery.
- Provide real-time problem determination for all dependent business applications by analyzing dumps, traces, performance, and logs to determine the root cause of specific problems.
- Perform restores for Business Partners as required.
- Participate in and provide cross-training with other members of the Shared Services (Middleware) Team.
- Develop a thorough technical understanding of Middleware Services applications, including functions, features, configurations, operations, and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Monitor Middleware Services, taking corrective actions to ensure correctness, stability, and adherence to appropriate metrics and service levels.
- Coordinate and facilitate test plans, ensuring all test cases are successfully completed and documented, and that the solution is ready for release into a production environment.
- Develop or participate in application upgrades, patching, and hotfix installations.
- University degree, College, or technical diploma in a relevant Information Technology major or equivalent experience.
- Technical understanding of Linux/Unikix and Windows, with the ability to further develop those skills.
- Experience supporting middleware products like IBM MQ Series and NTT Emulation software Unikix is must
- Experience supporting major Linux/Unix business applications is an asset.
- Experience with a variety of application or technical applications (certifications or equivalent experience is desirable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to respond to internal and external requests.
- Good organizational and planning skills, results oriented.
- Excellent customer service skills, communication, teamwork, and follow-up skills.
