Position Summary

Primary responsibility is to safely transport liquid or gaseous cargo, such as chemicals, or hazardous materials, to specified destinations. Duties include conducting pre-trip inspections of the tanker vehicle to ensure it is in optimal working condition, as well as loading and unloading cargo following established safety procedures.

  • Must be comfortable driving to Various regions in Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC and Manitoba
  • Must have Highway and Mountain driving Experience
  • 2-4 nights’ out(could vary)

Schedule: 5 on 5 off

What you will do

  • Safely and efficiently inspect, operate and maintain company and customer issued equipment in accordance with Transport regulations, TSA, company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Document and directly report all safety related equipment defects to Canada Cartage and when applicable, to the customer’s dispatch.
  • Continuously exercise safe-work-practices when engaged in work related activities (e.g. using material handling equipment, when manual handling cargo, and vehicle backing, etc.).
  • Maintain timely communication with the company dispatch office to report daily activity such as arrival and departure time, delays, unscheduled breaks, workplace injuries, motor vehicle collisions, and cargo, equipment, and property loss/damages.
  • Accurately complete and submit (at shift or trips end) all documentation required for payroll, customer billing, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, etc.
  • Continuously comply with current Hours of Service and TDG regulations.
  • Inspect cargo prior to acceptance and apply appropriate cargo securement as per NSC Standard 10.

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid Class 1/AZ License is required.
  • Clean 5 years Commercial driving abstract (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events).
  • Minimum 5 years of class 1 driving experience.
  • 1-3 years of verifiable tanker driving experience.
  • Mininmum 1 year of Super B experience is required.
  • Mountain driving experience is required.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable with smartphone technology.
  • Reliable, flexible, punctual and safe driving behaviors.
  • Comfortable backing in all manner of tight spaces and locations.
  • Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada.
