We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our Data team and help shape the data-driven future of our automotive platforms. This is a highly visible and impactful role, ideal for someone who can balance technical depth with strategic thinking. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver models, analytics, and experimentation that drive key product decisions and user outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of predictive models and statistical analyses to support product development and strategy.
  • Translate complex business problems into structured data science projects and solutions.
  • Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to identify data-driven opportunities and evaluate product experiments.
  • Drive best practices in data science, from reproducibility and documentation to deployment and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate models and insights into production systems and decision pipelines.
  • Leverage AWS cloud services to develop scalable, secure, and efficient data science solutions, including model training, deployment, and data pipeline orchestration.

What You Will Need

  • 7+ years of industry experience in a data science or machine learning role, including at least 1-2 years in a lead or senior capacity.
  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Solid understanding of statistical modeling, experimentation, machine learning, and applied mathematics.
  • Experience with model deployment and monitoring in production environments.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with scikit-learn (sklearn) for building, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
  • Desire to work on a small product-focused team.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and self-direction, flexibility, and ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in finance or insurance, particularly in risk modeling, pricing, or fraud detection.
  • Proficiency in R, especially for statistical modeling, reporting, and prototyping.
  • Experience with:
    • FastAPI for building model API services
    • Apache Airflow for orchestrating workflows
    • dbt for data transformation and modeling
    • Quarto for dynamic report generation and communication
    • AWS cloud services such as S3, MWAA, and ECS
    • Docker for reproducibility and deployment
  • Familiarity with modern MLOps practices and tools.
  • Experience in the automotive or Canadian finance or insurance domains an asset.

At E INC, in the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share our base pay as it is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this full-time position is $170,000.00 - $200,000.00 CAD, and this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
