Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven UAS Operator based in Halifax to join our transmission inspection team. In this role, you will perform aerial inspections of high-voltage transmission powerlines and substations using advanced drone platforms. While your home base will be Halifax, this is a field-based position requiring extensive travel, often in remote areas and variable outdoor conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct aerial inspections of transmission powerlines and substations using unmanned aerial systems (UAS)
  • Follow company flight protocols and safety procedures at all times
  • Perform daily equipment checks and basic drone maintenance
  • Coordinate with ground teams and data analysts to ensure complete and accurate data capture
  • Maintain detailed flight logs and inspection records
  • Travel extensively throughout the region, including multi-day deployments
  • Represent Detect professionally in the field and with utility clients
  • Contribute feedback to improve flight processes and data quality

Requirements

  • Valid UAS Pilot Certificate (Advanced Operations) under Transport Canada
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license
  • Experience with drone-based inspections or industrial UAS operations preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions
  • Able to carry equipment and work on foot in remote terrain
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours including potential overtime
